Cape Cod Attractions/Recreation
Cape Cod National Seashore - Cape Cod National
Seashore offers ranger-led activities, hour-long programs
for children ages 6 to 12, including environmental games,
explorations and activities, and beach browsing on the Outer
Cape to find clues to the marine life offshore and the forces
that shape the land during an hour-long walk. Take an hour-long
tour of the Province Lands dunes to see what plants and animals
call this changing land home and how they need to be protected
and a two-hour open house, including information about the
shipwrecks of Cape Cod and the heroic work of the life savers
inside the historic Old Harbor Life Saving Station.
Cape Cod Scenic Railroad - The Cape Cod Scenic
Railroad offers four scenic and exciting excursions. The award-winning
Elegant Dinner Train was featured among the top three dinner
trains nationwide by TV Food Network's Dining on the Train.
Recapture the romance of a by-gone era while you enjoy a five
course gourmet meal served on crisp white linen by a friendly
and attentive staff as you journey through scenic Cape Cod.
You may prefer the Luncheon Train or our Family Supper Train.
For a less formal train ride, try the Scenic Excursion Train.
Named one of the top ten scenic train rides in the country
by USA Today, the two-hour scenic excursions are perfect for
all ages. Climb aboard the Cape Cod Central and feel the thrill
as the whistle blows and your fun-filled adventure begins.
The rhythm of the train and the spirit of the crew will whisk
you away on an exhilarating two-hour journey by rail. You'll
pass beautiful cranberry bogs, natural woodlands, lush marshes
and more as you make your way between Hyannis and the Cape
Cod Canal.
National Seashore Bike Trails - The seashore
maintains three bicycle trails ranging from 1.6 to 7.3 miles
long. Roller-skating, skateboarding, and the use of motorized
vehicles, including mopeds, on these paved trails are prohibited.
Bicycles may be rented within the towns. The Province Lands
Bike Trail is a five-mile loop, offering hilly trail winds
among beech and oak forests, sand dunes and freshwater ponds.
Head of the Meadow Bike Trail is a level trail that skirts
the edge of a freshwater marsh and provides glimpses of the
marsh and dunes - two miles each way. Nauset Bike Trail connects
Salt Pond with Coast Guard Beach, and leads through pine and
oak forest with vistas of Nauset Marsh along the way - 1 1/2
miles each way. Cape Cod Rail Trail, a level, state maintained
trail on an old railroad bed that extends 26 miles between
Dennis and Wellfleet, this trail passes through pine and oaks,
occasionally skirting a pond or marsh. Ride through woodlands,
past sparkling lakes, mysterious kettle ponds and expansive
salt marshes.Park near Nickerson State Park in Brewster or
at LeCount Hollow Road in Wellfleet. Boston to Cape Cod Bikeway
is a signed route that follows 100 miles of back roads and
the Cape Cod Rail Trail, from the Charles River Bike Path
in Boston to Provincetown.
Cape Cod Museum of Natural History - The Cape
Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, Massachusetts,
on Cape Cod, was founded in 1954 to encourage and advance
understanding of the natural environment through discovery
and learning. There are two floors of exhibits
about the flora and fauna of Cape Cod, including exhibits
on whales, indigenous birds, and coastal change, and several
aquaria holding different species of crustaceans, mollusks,
fish, frogs, turtles and snakes. Outside
its boundaries, the Museum leads several nature tours to other
areas of Cape Cod, including seal tours, overnights at Monomoy
Lighthouse, and Monomoy Wildlife Refuge Cruises. Birding trips
are offered weekly, from September through May, as are the
popular Wednesday Walks to a different Cape locale every week.

Toad Hall Classic Sports Car Museum - Toad
hall features over 50 classic cars, mostly English from the
50s to the 80s with a couple of other countries thrown in.
The whole thing is called Toad Hall in honor of Toad from
Wind In The Willows, and his fascination with the new motor
cars of the late 19th Century.
John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum - The JFK Hyannis
Museum is a multimedia exhibit designed to open a window on
the days JFK spent on Cape Cod; days relaxing with family,
days playing football, days spent sailing
on the ocean to which he was so constantly drawn. The exhibit
features over 80 photographs spanning the years 1934 to 1963
and is arranged in thematic groupings to reflect John F. Kennedy,
his family, his friends and the Cape Cod he so dearly loved.
In addition to photography, a video narrated by Walter Cronkite
depicts the president's experiences on the Cape. Several themed
areas include charged oral histories of JFK's friends. Experience
a glimpse at the life of John Kennedy on Cape Cod.
ZooQuarium - Located in West Yarmouth, ZooQuarium
is a zoo/aquarium facility featuring native aquatic and wildlife
species as well as domestic farm animals, sea lion shows and
animal education demonstrations.
Cape Museum of Fine Art - The Cape Museum of
Fine Arts was founded in 1981 to focus on the prominent artists
of Cape Cod and preserve their work on the Cape. Experience
the beauty in exhibits in 7 galleries, stroll and relax in
the delightful sculpture garden, treat the kids to special
summer classes, or catch a movie in the Screening Room. The
Cape continues to beckon and inspire fine artists with its
brilliant light, its enhanced colors, its scenes of simple
natural beauty, and its people.
Cahoon Museum of American Art - Housed in a
Georgian Colonial farmhouse, the Cahoon Museum has a permanent
collection of primitive paintings by Ralph & Martha Cahoon
and 19th century American marine paintings, landscapes and
still lifes. The Museum features special exhibitions and a

Cape Playhouse - Located in nearby Dennis,
the Cape Playhouse is America's Oldest Professional Summer
Theatre, offering a variety of Broadway plays, comedies, mysteries
and musicals with matinee and evening performances. Children's
Theatre is a must!
Cape Cod Melody Tent - Located in nearby Hyannis,
Mass., the Cape Cod Melody Tent features concerts, music,
plays, events and shows, For more than 50 years, it's one
of the Cape's best places to see a concert.
Martha's Vineyard - Martha's Vineyard is an
ideal place to getaway from it all. Each of the Island's six
towns provides access to spectacular beaches, outdoor activities,
and a selection of shops, restaurants, performing arts and
attractions. Named for a local whaling captain, Owen Park
overlooks Vineyard Haven Harbor, home to hundreds of wooden
boats in the summertime. A peaceful spot located near the
ferry and Main Street, Owen Park and Owen Park Beach are great
places to enjoy a picnic or wait for the ferry. Local town
bands as well as visiting bands hold concerts here in the
summer. Journey down the rural roads of Martha's Vineyard,
past field and farm, heath and heather, to the simple fishing
hamlet of Menemsha. The town beach at Menemsha, overlooking
Vineyard Sound, offers views of the Elizabeth Islands and
is considered the premier spot to watch the sunset on the
island. Nearby fish market, deli, and shops near Dutcher's
Dock make Menemsha a perfect lunch or evening excursion. About
a 15-minute walk along East Chop Drive, off Oak Bluffs Harbor,
the East Chop Lighthouse is perched atop Telegraph Hill, a
scenic bluff overlooking Nantucket Sound. The Martha's Vineyard
Historical Society offers sunset tours each Sunday from the
end of June until Columbus Day, in good weather. Check out
the country's oldest platform merry-go-round still in operation,
the Flying Horses, a National Historical Landmark on Martha's
Vineyard.

Cape Cod Beaches
Bass Hole (Grays Beach) - Located on Cape Cod
Bay in Yarmouth Port, this beach is open to the public, and
offers a mobile canteen, boat ramps, a picnic area, a lifeguard,
food, restrooms, and free parking.
Bass River - Located in South Yarmouth on the
Nantucket Sound, Bass River Beach is open to the public and
wheelchair accessible, offering a snackbar, boat ramp, lifeguards,
food, restrooms, and parking. A parking fee is required.
Bay View - Located in West Yarmouth on Lewis
Bay, Bay View is open to public, and has free parking, a mobile
canteen, a boat ramp and a lifeguard.
Colonial Acres - Located in West Yarmouth on
Lewis Bay, Colonial Acres is public, and offers free parking,
a mobile canteen, lifeguards, and restrooms.
Englewood - Located in West Yarmouth on Lewis
Bay, Englewood Beach is has free parking, a mobile canteen,
a boat ramp, and lifeguard, and is open to the public.

Cape Cod Festivals
The Nantucket Daffodil Festival - Step ashore
to the cobblestone main street where you'll view the antique
classic cars and decorated storefront windows for the annual
Nantucket Daffodil Festival contest and parade. An island
sightseeing tour highlights the day which journeys the Daffodil-lined
back roads offering breathtaking views of the salt marshes
and coastline.

Cape Cod Golf Courses
Bass River Golf Course - Enjoy this breathtaking
18-hole course with narrow fairways, small greens and a wonderful
view of the Bass River. There are water hazards that come
into play on eleven holes. Built in 1905, Bass River was designed
by Donald Ross. Due to the seasonal resort climate of the
Cape Cod area, greens fees will vary depending on the time
of day, week and year.
Blue Rock Par 3 Golf Course - This is an exquisite
18-hole, par 3 Bent grass course with mature tree lined, tight
fairways, fast greens, and five holes that require shots over
water. The terrain is basically rolling, but there are some
hills. There are no slope or course ratings available. Sports
Illustrated called Blue Rock "the country's finest par-3
. . ." Endless Vacations dubbed the course "the
finest par-3 in America." And from Golf World, "Blue
Rock is an absolute gem. Bring along a camera for it's hilly
terrain and wooden bridges." Designed by Geoffrey Cornish
in 1962, the 26-year old Blue Rock is highly recommended.
Greens fees vary depending on the season, week and year.
King's Way Golf Club - This Scottish-links
style 18-hole Bent grass course was built on semi-hilly terrain,
so expect some uneven lies. Many of the large greens are protected
by pot bunkers, and the fairways are lined with mature trees.
Water hazards come into play on three holes. The course features
a beautiful view of the Massachusetts Bay. You may only walk
the course after 2 PM. Greens fees will vary depending on
the season, week and year.
Bayberry Hills Golf Course - An 18 hole championship
public golf course offering a private wooded setting and featuring
a separate nine-hole links style course. Bayberry Hills offers
five sets of tees measuring 7,170 yards from the back tees
and the Links Nine offering 4 sets measuring 3,335 yards making
both courses playable for all skill levels. The beautifully
remodeled restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. It
is an ideal location for dining before or after your round.
They have a full liquor license and can accommodate groups
with cookouts or catered meals. The course also features a
well maintained, all natural grass driving range with three
sizes of buckets offered. The Pro Shop features a wide selection
of clubs, balls, shoes, clothing and equipment, and accommodates
custom orders. Annual membership is available through the
pro shop.
